To get a scan without artifacting, these systems must be left turned off. These silver compounds confuse the IR dust and scratch removal systems in modern scanners. Kodachrome Issue 1 – Infrared dust and scratch removal systems don’t work properlyĪlso unique to this film is that after developing, there were some metallic silver compounds left behind in the emulsion. Almost like the image is engraved onto the base of the film. Also, if you glint light off the emulsion side (dull side) of the film, there’s a sort of bas-relief effect to the surface of the film. You can usually tell what you have by the fact the color has stood up fairly well. Some department store slide film brands such as “Sears” were actually repackaged Dynachrome film. When the Kodachrome patent ran out in the late 1950s, 3M copied the Kodachrome film and released “Dynachrome” which has most of the same characteristics and properties of Kodachrome – including it being difficult to scan well. Kodachrome and Dynachrome films, unlike virtually all other color films, had the color dyes added to the film during the processing and not built into the film, as all currently produced color films do. Our standard service for slide film still renders a very high quality image but there will either be some dust and scratches on them or some artifacting due to the IR dust and scratch removal systems being left on because these systems don’t work as well as they normally do on these films. This biggest difference about this service, is that it will provide a more pristine looking picture. You can opt instead to use our lower priced standard slide scanning which you can find here . P.S.This service isn’t essential for the scanning of Kodachrome and Dynachrome film.

  • -> This means, that you can update to the new scanner speeds even without buying the Dongle or needing to upgrade EZ-Controller as well - you CAN use the 7.0 speeds also in TWAIN mode! (this was confirmed to my by several experienced users - can try it myself in 2 weeks when I'm back at my scanner - currently only used it with EZ as I have the Dongle).

However, updating EZ-Controller is not really out of interest if you're using only the scanner as recent update only changed printer related stuff. For us Noritsu Scanner users only the update to the newest driver (not software!) should be of interest - this unlocks the full speed if you're running Win10 64 bit ( but only when using Win10 64 bit as I was told - never tried using it on an older or 32-bit OS ) (I was told both are around 150$ each if you have an account with Noritsu, which you also can open as a private person - my LS600 already came with the newest scanner driver 7.0)

  • The (TWAIN) Scanner driver and the EZ-Controller are completely independent from each other. You can get updates for both of it separately.

scan the whole roll first and edit later (which is super awesome - just on my big Pakon).

EZ-Controller is proprietary software which can only be used with a USB-Hardware-Dongle (kind of like a hardware license key), which is between 800$ on the used market and 2000$ new from Noritsu - therefore pretty expensive but remember - it's not made for the scanners but rather for running the whole lab!EZ-Controller unlocks further options with the LS-600 and allows you to e.g.(b) EZ-Controller - which is the software by Noritsu for their whole lab products. you can use the USB-Noritsu Scanners either with.Hey to both of you - there seems to be a lot of miss-information on the Noritsu Software & drivers.Basically it comes down to this: Is there anything in particular I should look out for? resolution one can get out of it in Medium Format? (found some very nice examples of SP2500 images on flickr so I want to know the results will compare to the SP2000)ĭo you guys know the max. What I know so far: it's one of the predecessor of the legendary SP-3000,īut seems to have lower resolution, no D-ICE and uses a Halogen lamp instead of an LED.ĭoes anybody of you use either a SP1500 / 2000 / 2500?ĭoes anyone know a bit more about the differences between the three models?Īt least the SP 2000 is using a halogen lamp as a light source, does the SP2500 do this as well? I "somehow" (😇) auctioned an SP2000 yesterday.Īs I jumped pretty much head-first in (offer was running out of time) I have some questions.
